Great Museums
The private art collection of the Bavarian Dukes was turned into a museum in the XVII century and it is considered to be the oldest museum North of the Alps. In the course of the century many museums followed this very first one, making Munich a true art centre. In the year 2002 the city opened its third art gallery, a suitable location for ist outstanding collection of contemporary art.
Day 1
Arrive to Munich. Afternoon orientation city sightseeing tour: Marienplatz, Our Lady’s Cathedral, the Old and the New Town Hall. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2
Classical Art tour. Comprehensive city tour of the districts surrounding the medieval city: Odeonsplatz, Ludwigstrasse, the Obelisk and the King’s Square in classical style. The tour includes visits of the: Glyptothek (Greek and Roman sculptures) and Alte Pinakothek (European paintings XIII-XVIII centuries). On request we provide Opera or concert tickets according to season programmes. Dinner and overnight.
Day 3
Modern Art tour. During the sightseeing tour visit the great collections of modern art: Lenbachhaus (Der Blaue Reiter), Neue Pinakothek (XIX-XX centuries). Pinakothek der Moderne (Cobra, Pop-Minimal-Kinetic Art). Dinner and overnight.
Day 4
Excursion to Lake Starnberg and idyllic Upper Bavaria with stops at Bernried to visit the Buchheim’s Museum of Phantasy (Die Brücke, Expressionism) and at lovely Murnau to see Münter-Haus (home of Gabriele Münter and Wassily Kandinsky). Tour includes a boatride. Lunch free on board or at museums cafeteria. Dinner at popular beer hall. Overnight.

Breakfast and departure.
